Acoustic Guitar Spectacular 2012 - On Tour

A hand-picked group of internationally recognised guitarists from across the globe will join forces this Autumn to weave some memorable musical magic. Featuring Michael Fix, Andrea Valeri, Nick Charles and Robbie Long.Ok Fellow Bohemians!.

Acclaimed acoustic guitarist Michael Fix – recently named as one of Australia’s Top 25 Guitarists of All Time by readers of Guitarist Australia magazine – will be joined by his Italian protégé, and one of the brightest young stars on the European stage, 21-year-old Andrea Valeri for a series of very special concerts.

Also taking part in several of the inaugural Acoustic Guitar Spectacular shows are Melbourne-based player Nick Charles – described by The Age as “Australia’s virtuoso of acoustic roots and blues”, a two-time Australian Flatpicking Guitar Champion and multi-instrumentalist Robbie Long and internationally acclaimed flamenco virtuoso Andrew Veivers.

Each concert has been structured so that each player will featured as a solo artist in the first half, and all players will share the stage in the second half, allowing plenty of opportunity for spontaneity and improvisation.

This is a rare opportunity to see such a wealth of amazing musical talent on the one stage. In particular, it’s a unique chance to see one of the rising stars of the global guitar scene as he embarks on his first tour of Australia.

“I’ve been touring internationally since 2004, and every year I meet incredible guitar players who blow me away.” said Michael Fix.

“I've been looking for an opportunity to bring some of these people to Australia, and I’m thrilled that the first such guitarist will be Andrea Valeri. He's only 21, and I believe he has what it takes to become one the world's great players.”

“I urge people to check him out online, and see him in concert, not just to admire his technical excellence, but to be touched by his beautiful original tunes, as well as his smooth Mediterranean charm!”

“I would love to see the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular become an annual event, and I hope to bring many more of the world’s great players to Australia over the next few years.”

The Acoustic Guitar Spectacular 2012 will feature 10 shows in New South Wales and Queensland. Don't miss this one-off opportunity to see these incredible players in action!

Manouche is a term derived from the Romany gypsies of Europe, what we in Australia call gypsy jazz.

This fine band has been put together by it's individual members as an exercise in small group swing.

Feel the Manouche has a 'world music' feel. Through it's use of double bass, guitar, accordion & fiddle, the band achieves a strong melodic groove that can take on gypsy waltzes, swing jazz, choro and many other flavours of music from our diverse planet. We invite you to sit back and 'Feel the Manouche'.

George Washingmachine - violin / vocal
Arthur Washington - guitar
Clare O'Meara - accordion / violin
Stan Valacos - double bass

SONGWRITING / PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

With Sydney Musician: SHANE FLEW

The idea of this format is to inform and educate young songwriters in a concert surrounding.

Shane will perform his songs that cover many different styles like folk, blues, reggae, country rock, Americana, rock and roll, r n b and western swing etc.

Lifted from his two solo CD`s and some that have been covered by other artists.

He will discuss the musical ideas behind the songs, the sounds and moods derived from chords and chord progressions, different tunings on the guitar, rhythms and time signatures that can define certain styles of music.

He will also be giving an insight into lyric writing. With tips and ideas to create pictures with words using rhymes etc. Filling in the gaps during the songwriting process so as to continue on and complete the work.

Answering questions from the students would be a major part of the performance/workshop experience.

HiddenAce, FireRoom & Archer

Picture
3 Bands in one night! Support our local music scene!!

☛ Headlining ~ "HiddenAce" ♠

Four Coastie boys from various Musical influences.

Matt Stalgis, Josh O’Brien and Grant Molloy had played together for several years earlier before the arrival of singer Matty D. These guys are totally original in every way. Their style is an exhilerating blend of Funk, Rock and Bluesy sounds. Some of their fans have dubbed their style as “Funk’n’Rock”. What ever you call it, you can't help moving to it. As a man once said “Do your self a favour......come and experience HiddenAce......you won't be sorry!”

Preliminary hearings of several demos has generated large amounts of positive feedback and a growing fanbase.

Supported by ~

☛ "FireRoom" ☀

FireRoom is a band from the Central Coast of NSW who have cracked the code and opened a vault of classic influences. Now ready to Launch their attack on the industry with their own 6 track debut EP, produced by multi award winning producer Stuart Stuart from Chartsong Productions (TheVeronicas and Small Mercies).

It was a chance encounter that award winning drummer, James Dennett and Kurt Ellis (lead vocals and guitar) met. James introduced Kurt to a bass player friend of his, Luke Davies and FireRoom was born!

The FireRoom recipe cooks up classic rock vocals, smooth bass licks, powerful drumming and a guitar that sings like its Woodstock again! Blend these ingredients and you have a high energy show that will have you rocking and the girls screaming just like they used to!

"Some bands claim to be retro but FireRoom capture the real spirit of the 50's and 60's rock, and mix it with an indie radio vibe" - Stuart Stuart
